Required Training for Pack 300 leaders

To be considered a trained leader, adult leader volunteers must complete these leadership courses. These courses are all available online or the Crossroads of America council will hold training Expo’s and these courses are usually available during that time. The required courses are:

Youth Protection – The BSA is very concerned, as are all parents and adult leaders involved in the program about youth protection. The BSA has a zero tolerance policy concerning this issue and employs at all times what is called Two-Up Leadership (there must always be two trained adult leaders present at all times). A direct link to the BSA Youth Protection course can be found here. Youth protection training must be re-taken every two years. Youth protection is mandatory training for all BSA Leaders.

Orientation Training (This is Scouting) – This general orientation course gives the new leader an introduction to Scouting. This new course replaced what was once called “New Leader Essentials”. This course only has to be taken one time.

Fast Start Training (Den Leader Fast Start) – This course introduces the new leader to what being a Den Leader is all about.

Leader Position Specific Training – This training builds upon the Fast Start Training by focusing in on training specific for the rank you are currently leading. This training is broken down as follows:

  • Tiger Cub
  • Wolf Cub
  • Bear Cub
  • Webelos
  • Cubmaster
  • Pack Trainer
  • Pack Committee
